Seven Wonders

The Colossus of Rhodes
The Colossus stood for only 54 years before felled by an earthquake and eventually all the bronze and iron melted down in the true spirit of recycling.

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
The mausoleum stood near modern day Bodrun, Turkey sometime in the 13th century until it became the victim of an earthquake.

The Lighthouse of Alexandria
Damaged by a series of quakes (starting to see a theme here?), the lighthouse survived until the 1300s when it was finally totally toppled.

The Statue of Zeus at Olympia
Built with gold, silver, ivory, and precious stones, the statue, and indeed the temple that housed it are long gone at the site of the original Olympics at Olympia.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, this is the only one which not a single scrap of it has been discovered. In fact, it is questioned whether it ever truly existed.

The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
All that remains today at its former site near Selçuk, Turkey, is a single column of its original 127.

The Great Pyramid at Giza
The only surviving (and oldest) Wonder, the Great Pyramid was the tallest manmade structure until 1311 when it was outdone by the spire of Lincoln Cathedral.
